Calgary Telus Convention Centre
Located downtown on Stephen Avenue at 1st Street and 8th Avenue SE, the Calgary Telus Convention Centre hosts myriad events and was in need of an update. For this renovation, we demolished and completely rebuilt the pre-function event space, where we added new flooring, wall and column finishes, glass doors, and electrical updates to the lighting and fire-alarm system. To improve the level of meaningful access, we widened the washroom entrances with doorless entry and installed larger accessible stalls, with automated soap and hand dryers within easy reach of the sinks. We also renovated the common space with reachable outlets and lowered phones.
The overall area was redesigned as a universal space, where we installed one-of-a-kind architectural ceiling fins created from recycled pop bottles. We added contrasting colours to the walls, and we updated the T-bar ceiling with drywall. Additionally, a custom felt wall was designed and installed by a Toronto-based artist using Canadian material.
